The only hurdle so far thats keeping me from progressing is that I can’t seem to play along with the accompaniment. I worked on this module for a long time as I have to fight to find time to do it.

to play the flute 🙂, unless i am really sleepy :))). My daughter is now 4 months old and its a challenge as it is to balance her needs and my needs. I was sceptical at first but Rebecca you really are an amazing teacher and I would really like to add that you really are God’s gift to people who want to learn to play the flute. I started your lessons almost a year ago as I got pregnant with my second kid and had to stop work due to complications. Glad you asked! Other combinations to practice right now to help with balance: Good luck! You can do it. It’ll serve you well for the rest of your flute life. This is the big spot to spend time getting this skill down. The direction of the right hand ‘pushing away’ and the left hand ‘pulling towards’ with the stop at the chin is what creates a perfect balance. Chin (thought the flute only lightly touches it). Left hand comfy chair/shelf (this is the one to examine more closely today if balance is still an issue) and 4. Right hand thumb (think of it more pushing the flute away from you rather than holding the flute up) 3. Remember the 4 balance points when you play. If you do enough repeats with the proper positioning, it is no problem for the rest of your life. The C to D combination is only tricky for a little while. staying on it for weeks on end because I simply cannot get the songs to sounds as good as they do when YOU play them in the videos? But, I guess what I’m wondering is where is the balance between rushing through a module too fast vs. Secondly, how long would you spend on each module? How perfect should I be? I realize this is hardly a question you can answer without ever having heard me. I think my “comfy chair/shelf” needs to be a bit bigger than it is! As I said, it’s not so problematic on the lower octave, but that’s likely only because those notes are easier and more forgiving–I’m sure I’m still making the mistake there too though. I can literally feel it change against my lower lip as I move from B to C, messing with my lip position on a note that has to have a more relaxed, forward, plenty of airflow sort of lip positioning. My tone is OK-ish on the high B, but it really fails on the high C as I know I am putting too much pressure/weight of the flute against my chin. My balance/note transitions sound OK on the low B and C, but “Aura Lee” requires a second octave B-C slur transition in the third-to-last measure of the song. I felt like I was sort of getting it down–at least enough to look at the next module with “Aura Lee”–but that song reveals that I still have a few issues to resolve. I will work on those combinations you have listed. I can’t imagine what will happen to me if I ever actually have to play in front of people! If you have any other words of wisdom, I’d appreciate it. I need to be reviewing the old songs anyway each day, and now I’ll just play them with the accompaniment as well. The only thing I can think to do is go back and review all the songs with accompaniment–all the way back to Suo Gan–and maybe this will build my confidence. I am learning that with the flute it is critical to be completely relaxed, and for some reason this seems to be affecting me. I can play a piece decently well alone, and then I click the accompaniment and my sound totally falls apart. As funny as this sounds, it’s almost like I get nervous/stage fright even though it’s just me and my computer and no one else. One more little issue that I am having… I seem to struggle to play with the accompaniment tracks in the modules. I am really trying to implement that and finding it very helpful. I really liked your explanation about making the letter C and then cocking back the first finger to make the comfy chair a little more exposed. Module 15 gives you a little break and is fun, fun also. You will practice Section A (or Part A) of the Minuet on your own by downloading the accompaniment on this page and practicing Section A until you can play it well with the accompaniment before moving on to Module 16. 2 places that are NOT for your flute 2:31 It’s chuck full,… Take your time so you can get this one right. Total Time: 51 Minutes Okay friends, this module is a doozy.
